IHF's Photo Contest | Scenic B&W

IHF's Photo Contest | Scenic B&W

This is my kind of contest. I love portraits. I love Scenic/Landscape photography. And I Love Black and White shots.
This shot was from a family summer trip to Panama City Beach, FL. Gramma came along and Grant Loved it! I love this shot of the two of them walking down the beach holding hands.

I hope you all enjoy it as well.

In post production, I took out some buildings and people that distracted from the shot.

*Image with Buildings and people*

I also added contrast to the footprints to make them more defined and standout. And of course small curve adjustment and my own BW style! My boarder and watermark in the corner.

Please let me know what you think!

Love Your Shot Contest Photo

A friend of IHF's,

Love That Shot is having a photo contest. Love Your Shot. Theme is Favorite Faces.

Well no other favorite face of mine than Grant's!

Here is my entry:

He just turned 3, so we just did his 3 year pictures. This was shot last weekend. I used my Canon T1i with my 18-55mm lens and my SigmaEF530 DG Super Flash with a Gary Fong LightSphere.

In Photoshop CS5, I used Essential Kit action Marta Like Simple-warm me! to get that warm look. I also adjusted the Curves to add depth. I finished it off with OnOne Plug In's Edging. It is a custom preset I created.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks! Hope I win!

Fix It Friday TIME! #73

It is time for Fix It Friday over at I Heart Faces! Here is # 73:

Original:

My Fix:

I opened in PS CS5.

I used my F12 Shortcut action to make a copy of my background.

I then used CTRL + M to open Curves.

I then adjust the Curve Down to darken the image and give it more depth.

Then I used Essential Kit's Actions (A sponsor of IHF's) , "Marta Loves Color"-"Fresh Color Pump". Then I used "Marta Loves It Simple" - "warm me!"

These are great actions! Very easy to use and work great!

Then I used OnOne Plug In to add my custom preset of Dark Black Edges 100%.

I then saved the image at a 6 for quality and uploaded.

Thanks! Email me with Questions at jcline@jwcstudios.com or catch me on IHF's.

Here is the final image:

I hope it was informative and helpful.

As always, check out my website, JWC Studios or my Facebook page.

Thank You!

Jason

I Heart Faces Week 38 Challenge * Smirk

What is a Smirk?

A Smirk is not quite a Smile, but not a normal look. Smirks can be very cute and funny. I have many photos of different Smirkers. But I had to go with one of the best Smirkers I know.

My son Grant! He is a regular Smirker.

I hope you enjoy! And I hope I win a challenge for once!

Thanks!

Times they are a changin'

So, all of us know that technology changes quickly. Just ask me. I bought a Canon T1i in Dec. of 2009. Spring of 2010, the new T2i comes out.

But this, changes everything for us, as photographers.

I am sure by now you all have heard something about the new Olympus Pen Point and Shoot that has interchangeable lenses. Sony has a similar camera out now as well. I would have to believe that Canon and Nikon will follow suit as well.

Let me 1st say that I do not think it is the END of photographers. Just b/c some gets a camera, no matter how easy it is to use it, doesn't makes them a photographer. It is a photographer that makes the photos what they are. I truly believe that.

That being said....

This new breed of Point and Shoot/SLR WILL change the photography business just like it did when it went from Film to Digital.

If you don't know about them yet. Here is a link to the Olympus site. I was at a Best Buy today and saw the Cheaper Pen ($399.99). Pretty amazing what it can do in such a small package.

Sony's

And we thought that the price of DSLR's caused a problem. One day we will have one of these is our bags. Maybe 2.

I just thought I would bring up the subject. Seems like times they are a changing.......

Week 23 • Play Photo Challenge

This week's photo challenge theme is "Play".

I heart faces has a weekly photo challenge. This weeks theme is "Play". Instead of a normal child at play, I decided to go a different route. Here is my submission:

This was taken at BB Kings on Beale Street in Memphis, TN. This guy was a true blues player. His name was Blind Morris. Yes he is blind. He played the harmonica great. Heck of a blues singer.

Here is a collage of my trip on Beale Street:
